Where to start. Well, the week before leaving everyone on campus was comming down or had a full blown case of something. Kids had the flu, colds, and of couse a procrastination problem because vacation was a week away. Luckily I had managed to not catch any of it ( except the procrastination). After going home I managed to get both the flu and broncitis; I'm not thrilled about it. Now, we're all planning for mid-terms, unpacking, and seeing everyone that we didn't see over break. Thomas planned alot of activities for us this week to catch up with everyone.
Wednesday the cafe is hosting a cooking class for deserts, Thursday is the Hockey game against UNF at Suki, and Basketball played Green Mountain on Friday followed by Husson and UMF. It should be a good week. Hopefully everyone has fun. Enjoy the first week back!!
So far we have had a great season. With one loss to Colby we are playing extreamly well. We aren't as sloppy and are working alot better as a team to out wit, and out manuver the competition. Here are some Photos to the last game we won 6-5.
It seems like right before every vacation; teachers want to get all of the fresh information out of your head before you leave. I'm pretty sure they're afraid we'll forget over a week break all the information they have been teaching us since the last vacation that we had in December. I don’t know if I’d rather it be like this, a lot of tests in a short span of time, or, have homework over vacation. So for the past week and a half it's been crunch time.
By Friday I will have had a test in all of my classes (seeing as I had one on Thursday and another of Friday of last week). So I guess it's just study time now. I will have missed my second hockey game of the season as of tonight because of homework. I have to study due to a huge Madore test in World Geography. Kind of bummed, but I guess that you come to school with education as a priority over sports-- who would have thought.
Also, Friday I have my first macroeconomics test of the year. This year seems a little better than last in micro but I guess I won’t find out whether or not that means I do better or not until I get my test grade back. Since my roommate and I are both in the same class it is a little easier because we can study with each other and normally answer each other’s questions before we have to take the test.
Either way, I'm looking forward to having a break. It's one week closer to summer time :) And then I won't have to think about crunching down on test info for another 2 months.
Last night I was playing around on the internet and found some pretty interesting videos and quotes that I figured I'de post.
"In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." -Theodore Roosevelt
“If you haven't the strength to impose your own terms upon life, you must accept the terms it offers you.” –T. S. Eliot
“In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot.” -Mark Twain
(Relate the last quote to George W. Bush. It was a situation that some people would have been against either way he tried to fix it, so he did it the safe way. He made a decision to defend our country by any means necessary (in this case a war), which also passed in congress, and we revolt against him? If he chose not to do something and more of our "American's" died, would you have thought the same, or would you be reprimanding him for the decision he didn't make? He was elected into office as a leader and that’s how we need to still think of him. He did what he thought was best in a time of crisis. I agree with him 100%. How many of you that bash him for his choices think you honestly could have done a better job? Or better yet.... Do you honestly think Kerry would have done better? We don’t know if he did make the right choice, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Too many people died the first time around to chance another attack. Look at it this way, if we did get hit again, and more people died, would you still be against the Bush Administration or would you have finally joined on the band wagon and shook the hands of a real leader? One that was okay to put himself on the line and take a stance most people would have been afraid to make. He isn't here to make friends; he's here to defend and lead the land and people that thousands upon thousands of great men died for. If that doesn’t get the wheels turning in your heads, then maybe you need to be thinking about whether "American" is the correct terminology we should be using for you all.) Also, some informative videos that I think some people should listen really closely too.
In case you for some reason need some help figuring out what different parties tend to stand for, listen to this. http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/
I think that if more people paid attention to what exactly they voted for, the results would have been different. People hear the word change, but without knowing what change is-- they see the face behind the words and vote. They think that is a good idea. I spoke with kids at Thomas who said they didn’t agree with the republican that was in office and so as a result, voted for a democrat that is going to bring us down farther. Am I defending what our last president did-- no? But I think that all of America's citizens are unaware of what is truly going on. I think we are under a blanket of chosen ignorance. We choose to listen or to shut out words because we are afraid they will change our minds. Rather than getting off our own pedestals to come down to realization, we would rather hold our heads in the clouds. We are in America, not heaven. It's not perfect and we aren't untouchable. Just some words for thought
